Not sure. I think it came out in 2002 or so.

All Tempests have adjustable skegs. The first year or so did not have the ‘super-easy-to-adjust’ footpegs. This past year Wilderness Systems went to a better hatch / cover.
I prefer the 165 over the 170. I used to own a 170. Now I own a poly and a 'glass 165.

the improved hatches (Kajaksport) is on Pro (composite) and we had a pretty substantial seat upgrade after a couple years of production. the old seats have a 4" notch in the back part of the seat. replacement is ez and costs $150 I think.
