I looked at a used fiberglass Tempest 180 today. Liked what I saw but the coaming was absolutely gihunormungous. When I tried to lay back on the back deck–pow!–the thing stopped me cold in my tracks still five inches off the deck. You’d need to be a contortionist to get over that.
Question: Is that normal for a 180 or am I just looking at an early model? (Thanks, grayhawk, for the spell check!)
??
early models have the same rim.
that said, the rim is pretty well positioned for the depth of the boat and give most everyone I have talked with, a good postion for ROM.
possibly the seat was moved aft a bunch? this would make it like you say.
