If you have some time (like 3 hours) to spare it’s worth it to watch these three videos of a 450 km journey in Northwestern Ontario. Big lakes, wind, rain, storms, upstream travel, bushwhack portages, tiny headwaters and then big rapids. In some cases, really pushing the edge by my standards with one canoe & two people.

I took a nice girl on a 151 mile paddle and we are still together after 25 years.
That was a great way to determine someone’s character.
My girl helped me with my zoology classes. Waded through mud to catch a turtle, held a 3’ garter snake for an hour because I didn’t have a bag, helped me catch a bullfrog at night in the middle of a road, and was bitten by a black snake while I was stuffing it into a bag.
