The Mississippi at Memphis

Looking for someone familiar the Mississippi and its tributaries around Memphis, who is willing to share their knowledge. Would like to do day trips — explorations — in the area. Thanks.

We used to have a member here from that area, but he’s been absent for a few years. Based on his reports though, I think you might want to check out the Wolf River in its upper stretches. A lot of it looks interesting to me, but there’s this part that is effectively dammed-up by a big accumulation of sand, creating a big swamp that seems particularly interesting (the sand washed into the river farther upstream as a result of human activities, and apparently moved downstream just “so far” and then created a blockage).

Look up Rivergator: https://www.rivergator.org/ along with John Ruskey and Quapaw Canoe: http://www.island63.com/

Thanks. Yes, Rivergator is a wonderful resource.
