the river is up! (caution: pictures)

We had some rain earlier this week and the St Joseph river volume doubled in 2 days from 5000 cfs to 10000 cfs. So my upstream paddles have gotten shorter and I’m getting practice at paddling close to shore and trying to use obstacles to avoid the main current.

One of our regular put-ins is underwater.

Lots of flooded areas where you can paddle among the trees.

Nice and warm makes for a happy coonhound.

What is he saying?

She (Zoey) is saying “aaaaaahhhhhh”. Pure contentment. She has a very thin coat and gets cold and shivers…so with temps near 70 and some sun it’s pretty much dog paradise, and I certainly enjoy it too even though I do all the work.

She’s good company.
