The world lost a real paddler this week

Brian Moll passed away this past Tuesday. Brian worked at CanoeSport in Ann Arbor for years. His passion for canoes and canoeing touched a lot of people including me. We paddled together many dozens of times. Brian was my idea of a real paddler; he loved everything about canoes and paddling and he deeply appreciated spending time on the water. Brian was a patient teacher to new paddlers; he was modest about his own skills and supportive of other people’s paddling experience. One of his nicknames was Forward Pry after he managed to catapult himself out of his canoe and over a rock wall. My black lab loved him so much that we couldn’t say his name around the house since the dog got so excited.

I’ll miss Brian. I’m thankful for our friendship.

Bought my first kayak from Brian in the seventies. Great guy and passionate about paddling!
