Thigh Braces

A few weeks ago I saw someone’s kayak that had been outfitted with some foam thigh braces. These braces were purchased already shaped with an aggessive curve at the outside of the brace (if that makes any sense to you). He told me where he ordered them on-line but Duuhhh dumb blond that I am did I write any of that information down… anyone out there have any ideas of where this purchase may have been made?

You might want to try
looking for them at nrsweb.com

In your profile it states:

I like my boats like I like my men.

Just curious as to what that means?

check p.net’s
If you haven’t checked it yet, check out the Buyer’s Guide section on p.net - http://www.paddling.net/buyersguide/accessories/showCategory.html?cat=45. There are a few companies with thigh braces listed.

Perhaps these?

Thigh braces

I have had good luck with carving my own thigh braces out of minicell foam. That can be purchased on eBay, amongst other places, and seems to carve easily with a little sand paper and utility knife to match any girth of thigh. It can then be attached to your boat with either velcro, for a temporary fit to allow others to remove and use your boat, or by Dap Weldwood or other marine adhesive.

Postscript: would Mr No Imagination, whomever you are, please post if you agree with my advice on thighbraces. Thank you.

It is not clear what you refer to.
Ordinarily “thigh braces” refers to something the tops of your knees fit under. I have taken foam “hip pads”, reshaped them a little bit, and glued them in place above where your knees go. That works fine and foam hip pads are available lots and lots of places.

It would help if…
You provided a little more info about what kind of boat you are trying to add the thigh braces to, and your purpose for them. Some of what you wrote in your post (“already shaped with an aggessive curve at the outside of the brace (if that makes any sense to you)”) makes it pretty unclear whether you have a good sense of what you would be getting out of having them. Or maybe it is just the writing that you thought might be fuzzy - there really isn’t a good way to tell.

It’s cabin fever season, your post was kinda open-ended, and someone snuck maybe some bad jokes in because half this board can’t go and get good and tired outside in their usual winter activities.

cabin fever
"because half this board can’t go and get good and tired outside in their usual winter activities. "

That’s probably an understatement.

Too many of this “board” participants need to either, 1) learn to roll so they can paddle in colder water, or 2) learn to ski!

What’s wrong with getting tired inside?

From a female
That thing in the profile - “I like my boats like I like my men”…

Yeah this got pretty out there early with the kickstand comment (much of that recently deleted for anyone who is really confused by now). But I just don’t see putting a statement like that in a profile unless you are seeking abuse. It’s kinda handing a two year old a crayon and expecting them not to go draw on a wall.

or, you know, if she had just
answered the question the first time it was asked, the whole to do could have been nipped in the bud.

this is more fun…
another troll maybe?
