re: very aggressive pitch
We live near the Poconos, and tried one of those deals.
To say the sales team was aggressive was an understatement.
The salesman was so nasty when we said no, my wife was in tears and I almost punched the guy.
We left without the “premium” promised for listening to the pitch, and I contacted the local Chamber of Commerce and the BBB the next business day.
Sadly, they were in business for several years- one wonders if they ever changed their sales tactics.
Customers are people who
businesses would like to sell to again.
Once in a timeshare...they have no vested interest in keeping you as a customer..au contraire I have heard horror stories of what they offer if you cannot sell a time share on your own ( and it is quite hard)
What is this discussion doing in this forum BTW seems misfiled.
re: t’shares
Hi …I own a timeshare … I can attest to the fact that they will offer you the Moon to get you into one of their high pressure sales presentations…they always got all the answers. I bought mine for various reasons …They will sugar-coat it , gold plate the offer and they will outright lie to get you to sign up for one… My advice is …unless you have a very strong will power , don’t bother with it … If you are genuinely looking for a timeshare…never, never , never buy new @ retail…the reseller sites will literally save you thousands of $$$ on a timeshare purchase. then there’s the matter of maintenance costs per month always going up , often will no verifiable explanation of why .
because…
Bass Pro is probably just lending their name to it for a big paycheck in return …more than likely some other company really owns and runs the BP resort. also, just because some famous name is attached to something , guarantees nothing …look at the Ponzi schemes on Wall St for a gr8 example of that.
resorts
These resorts are in some great paddling areas which is why I placed this thread on this spot rather than over on B&B.
Never buy for the developer!
You will pay out the nose. Buy for an individual who is selling theirs. The developer will try to tell you in is a great investment . . . not true. We bought one for just a under $4,000. A great week in a very nice resort. We look at some that developers were selling at $20,000 and up. they were no better than ours.
You might sell it for what you paid (if your lucky) but it is a great way to have a vacation house. Our mantianence fees are $200 a year and taxes are $50. Very cheap for a ocean view apt. on the beach.
Cheap after 10 years maybe.
Assuming maintenance fees and taxes don’t rise, you’ve been paying 1000 a week if you keep it five years, 650 a week if you do it for ten. For that price you deal with the constraints and limited flexibilty. MAYBE you can sell it and recoup some costs. But timeshares are hard to sell.
I’d rather budget $1000 a year for vacation housing, and retain the flexibilty to go where and when I want.
Big Cedar Lodge
Nope Bass Pro Shops owns its timeshare resort. There is no way they would let loose of anything once they got their hands on it. Big Cedar Lodge is John L property. Bluegreen is a timeshare resort group based out of Indianapolis INdiana at what the locals know as the Pyrimids. bluegreen manages timeshare resorts all over the country and in the Carribean. Look into them on the web. I do not own the resort. If I did I would not have the time to put input in this wonderful message board.LOL
