tow line 'biner?

It’ll get stuck…
…at least on an RDF, like most anything else.

Yep, I need to test it in conditions. The person I got the idea from is an ACA Coastal Instructor and a BCU Level 4 coach, so I think it’s probably a valid idea, I just need to play with it myself.

The line shown is Kokatats line and it’s probably a 5mm line, much thinner than what Northwater uses.

Was this mentioned?
I have a couple climbing loops of nylon webbing that I use in the bow and stern tiedowns. Lying flat the loop is about 18 inches long. Could not you slip the loop under the deck lines and thread it throught he loop, then clip on with a biner? This would allow multiple towers to attach and release at will. The loop fits in my North Water Seatec belt.

You also need to try it…
…with cold, wet, gloved hands.

I am twisted.
(1) A plastic biner drops the need of a float.

(2) Most kits come with an aluminiun biner. They turn to dust on the salt water. Gerber river knives do the same.

(I use stainless diving or marine biners when I use biners.)

Oh, I am not adverse to just using knots as they can be fast.

My Biner is held in place by a bouble slip not and a 8 foot loose end. If the casualty or rafter support wants to break the tow they can with a sharp pull on Their end of the line. Stuff happens.

A dual tow has a loop of the tow line under one side of both life lines so the casualty can get free with his support boat. Yje biner is attached to the working end of the tow line.

It’s not complicated realy: Fast safe and shed the foolish aluminium stuff manufacturers give you from the mountaineering store and the tow packages are great.

No doubt…nm

Any pictures of your setup? nm

biner attachment
I have been using a climbing quick draw for years and have had no problems. Get a short one that has the rubber that keeps the biner in place. Climbers hang off these things so they are plenty strong.

And Rick is no troll
I’m pretty sure he’s the “Rick” I met back in 2002.

There’s more than one way to skin the cat, and some ways are better than others. Regardless whether beginner or advanced, asking good questions is not trolling.

Defintiely no troll!!
Rick towed me at Woods Hole a couple of years ago when I was ill. The man is not only real, but very skilled and experienced.

A pic of my quick draw setup…
