I have recreational kayaks and would like to kayak a section of the Upper New River in early August that is mainly class I/II (a "small" class III is ok). What section do you recommend that is scenic yet has some excitement? Does anyone near Hinton rent duckies or kayaks for an extra person? How about arranging a shuttle? I have reservations at Bluestone state park and would like to stay within an hour's drive of the campground.
Thanks for any help!

New River
I have camped and paddled several sections of the new river, including the confluence of the North Fork & the South Fork of the New near Sparta, NC. This is a fun section and good campground (I like the primitive section). As for outfitters near Hinton, there are several outfitters spread out on the New & Gaulley Rivers on the WV side.
