Valley grub screw caution

I know this has been mentioned several years ago, but it has occurred again. While washing off my 3 year old Nordkapp after a paddle I noticed that the grub screw in the skeg slider knob had begun to rust. Definitely not marine stainless! I caught it in time & swapped it out before it rusted in place. Valley evidently got a mixed batch of hardware…again. The same thing happened about 8 years ago with my Avocet, but I wasn’t so lucky - had to drill it out and replace the knob & screw. If you own a Valley I encourage you to keep an eye on the grub screw for corrosion, or just swap it out now with one you KNOW is stainless.

were yours plastic or composite boats? They could be built in different facilities.

All my Valleys are glass. I have 2 others with no such problem.

Well that shoots down my theory.
A good heads up though…
