Yep…
In my honest opinion… OR …in my humble opinion.
Paddle easy,
Coffee
actually
its secret code, only coffee can decipher.
Hmmm…
Lots of strainers in Michigan too. I don’t know what you picture here but my fav paddle spots in Michigan are loaded with downed trees.
Longshadow, Northman & I just did one
That would definately change your mind on that…lol. I would be happy to point at it for ya, though-
We wanted to try this river & finally did… Never again
Paddle easy,

Natural consequences
There "are" natural consequence for "every" action you take/make. Natural consequences can be either positive, or negative, based on your actions. I am not immune from natural consequences. If you choose to view my statement about natural consequences as "mean",
that may be because of defensiveness on your part.
Love the way you slip in comments which you say were too mean to state previously.
BOB
And you dont??
slip in remarks that is! Don't you have anything better to do than pick on a 36 year old housewife, LOL?! With all your certifications I am sure there is someone you could be rescueing. Really, lighten up Bob, I am off to mow the lawn. :)
Darwinism
Does someone “deserve to die” for making a mistake while paddling. I have never subscribed to that premise. If everyone who made a mistake while paddling died, there would probably be very few paddlers.
I do repeatedly advocate safety, and I do repeatedly advocate taking classes. I will continue to do so. Experimentation also serves a purpose in skill development; up to a point. Unfortunately, it appears that a lot of deaths, injuries, and rescues are a result of unskilled paddlers involved in experimentation.
To ignore the possibility of natural consequences existing/occuring is pure denial. It has nothing to do with pride, meanness, ignorance or any other “label” you wish to apply to me.
BOB
Picking on a housewife?
Is that how you feel about me disagreeing with your suggestions? Anyone who disagrees with you is “picking on you”. What a great defense mechanism.
I thought we were discussing whitewater skill improvement & suggested methods/techniques for doing so.
BOB
Geez Bob…
Your wound so tight arent you? No sense of humor at all. I am done with this discussion, at least woth you. Let it go........Breathe........Dont worry - be happy :)
consequences definitely
the consequences for swimming a rapids is the same if you’re in a kayak, a canoe, or a battleship. In regards to my experience that was only a slight exageration. I had already a fair amount of whitewater kayaking experience when I took the IK down some class III-IV stuff. I can honestly say that I was fairly bored for most the run and it wasn’t challenging in the slightest. The whole time I wished I was in my kayak because then I would have enjoyed what I was running although it would have been a bit frightening.
Coffee…
Just out of curiosity, which river was it?
Absolutely…
Yep! Absolutely humourless.
Time to pull in my line; caught my limit.
Paddle safe,

North Branch of the Ausable…
We had to get out and hike 350m through brush & downfalls so bad & machette was having trouble. We were also pulling our kayaks behind us. The area looked like a tornado went thru at one point & knock down 100 year old cedars… A 3 hour trip turned out to be 9 hours… Like I said if you like downfalls & strainers, I would be happy to point at the river for ya & meet you at the other end (either where it joins the main branch or downriver farther (add another 8 hours)), but I won’t do that section again.
Paddle easy,
Coffee
9 hours?
Hmmm…I must have missed 3 hours in there. It was definetly a once in a lifetime trip. No need to hike thru dense brush and downed trees in a wetsuit again.
We put in at 8:30 in the morning &…
Stopped & had lunch at 2:00, just after we got on the main branch… Hell, there is damn near 6 hours there! Got off the river & headed for your truck back at the put in at 4:45…
Oh, you are right… 8 1/2 hours give or take 15 minutes… Pardon my math…
Paddle easy,
Coffee
Wow…
No thanks. Doesn’t sound like my kinda fun
