Hey folks, I’m starting a kayak trip in a few days. I have an ingrown toenail that is taking its time healing. Has anyone out there used any water tight foot coverings over your water shoes to keep your feet dry?
I’ve had several, one in a nasty environment . I kept messing with it and a surgeon had to fix it. A GP tried but that didn’t work.
Do you have time to get it treated properly?
When I have a cut that I want to isolate form the water when kayaking, I use either these band aids:
CVS Health Advanced Healing Premium Bandages , Small - CVS Pharmacy
Which last through showers and kayaking for up to three days for me, or New Skin:
New-Skin Liquid Bandage All-In-One Protection Brush, 1 fL oz - CVS Pharmacy
which also lasts for at least three days, but takes multiple applications to build up to a strong cover.
Perhaps the above may work?
My sis-in-law swears by her water proof knee socks. Brand name is RANDY SUN Waterproof Socks on Amazon.
I agree on the premium bandages. I had a cut and a nasty abrasion on the back of my hands. After carefully cleaning and 4 days with the bandages I had new skin.
A toe might be tough.
I needed something quick so I used a tall kitchen garbage bag inside my water shoe. I strapped the top of the bag around my leg just below the knee. It wasn’t sealed tight, but I just avoided stepping in water above the top of the bag. It worked fine.
