web strap softener?

Just got a used 'yak and the web straps securing the hatch covers are hardened and stiff – whats the best way to make them pliable and easier to work with?

Try 303 protectant first
Give 'em a good soaking.



If you paddle in salt water, there may be salt deposits within the weave. Wash well.



Or they may be suggering from the effects of UV degredation, in which case you may be looking at replacement.
