I’ve been kayaking the Weeki Watchee River area for the last few days. ( Feb 2020) Highly recommended. Plenty of manatee’s sighted. HOWEVER !..be advised the traffic gets really heavy some days with inexperienced novice thrill seekers in rented boats. I got rammed from behind by idiots rushing downstream !!! Current can be any where’s from 4-6 mph. If U go …u can rent kayaks downstream near the Upper Deck restaurant area in Weeki Gardens… Another outfit rents kayaks up near the Weeki Watchee State Park on RT 19 South. It’s roughly 6 miles from the state park to Roger’s Park in Weeki Gardens.
