Wenonah Wood Trim

Does anyone have some ideas for a “bumper” on the ends of a wood trim Wenonah Kevlar canoe? The ends are not protected from bumps very well. I thought about putting some type of wood cap on it or putting part of a plastic end cap in half and putting a couple of screws in to hold it on

Are you bumping it while lifting it on
end for loading or carrying? Otherwise, I don’t see the problem. I’ve had boats with unprotected gunwale ends and have used them extensively in whitewater, and I just have not done them damage. Is it very rocky and foggy where you are?
