Put in at bridge near old West Branch State Forest Campground, take out at Merwin Creek State Forest Campground on the Manistique River. About 26 miles total. From the bridge to the intersection of Stutts Creek and West Branch Manistique is about 16 miles. From here to intersection of West Branch and Manistique is 7.5 miles. Then from this point to Merwin Creek State Forest Campground is about 2.4 miles upstream. River characteristics above the intersection of Stutts Creek is shallow with a hand full of must portages and carryovers especially in water levels under 500 cfs or 2.5 ft gauge height for the Manistique River. Below Stutts creek intersection river doubles in size and is deeper. Best to paddle when Manistique river levels are 600-1000 cfs or 3-6 feet in gauge height. Super interesting river with astounding wildlife potential. Sandy beaches galore with brookies waiting in the deep pools.
