You should pass and buy a board from a well known and respected brand. No info, even on a company’s own website is a gigantic red flag. Online reviews for the company are very negative. In the photos you can see bubbles where the layers of polymers are already delaminating.
Oh. That actually makes a lot of sense what you said.
When you say online, I tried to make sure that I’m not just getting my sample from Reddit, but I think you’re probably right that it’s kind of a problem that their own website doesn’t list to the board.
However, I didn’t really understand what you meant by the bubbles are delaminating. In the photo that I uploaded in my main post, I tried to look very closely, but honestly, don’t think I see any bubbles. Can you point out any of that?
The surface has pattern of “dimples”. In a couple of places, the “dimple” is missing, indicating that there is probably some separation/delamination underneath. FWIW.
From what I can find, the Rove Company is Canadian based and privately owned. The boards are made in China. It only appears to have been in business since about 2020. There really aren’t enough reviews to make a judgement. Some are positive and some negative. It’s possible the boards are sold under different names by other companies.
The board you have pictured is probably an earlier discontinued model. Possible even made by a different Chinese manufacturer and imported by Rove and sold under their name. You might consider contacting the company directly for more information, but they only offer a website form, no phone or email address.
Given the prices of their boards, short time in business, the fact that they do not manufacture the board themselves, and lack of direct contact information, I would be cautious about dealing with them.
If it’s being sold for a great price, maybe it’s worth the risk. I’d ask the seller why they’re selling it.
