What kind of canoe(for a friend)?

Really. This guy WANTS to paddle with his wife. Lakes, rivers, small white water.He wants Royalex.
No camping, just day trips.

Penobscot 16 or 17
Where are they located?

They can try ours if they want to.

It is outfitted for WW, but that won’t make any difference except the seats won’t be quite as comfortable as the cane or bucket ones.

Nova Craft Prospector 16
I really like the Nova Craft Prospector 16 for tandem paddling lakes and small or large rivers. Since it has a symmetrical design, it performs well paddling solo from the bow seat.
