my staples:
bowline
Pair of half-hitches
Simple simon (under) (variation on a sheet bend)
harness loop (I use this to make the loop for a trucker’s hitch)
butterfly loop
figure-eight loop
A prusiking knot that I can’t remember the name of.
Rescue figure eight (two loops)
is important with high load mechanical advantage systems. Who’s heard of a “dog-n-tail”? Very cool friction knot that works on an iced up rope when a camming device or prussik won’t.
