I deciding between the Garmin portable 276C chart plotter vs. the Garmin 60CX.Anyone use the 276C?

hi…the 276 runs on lithium batteries/the 60cx runs on AA batteries. where are you planning to use it and how? kayaking? hiking? car? boat? multi-use? the 60cx has features that are suited to hiking , while the 276 does not …2 entirely diff GPS units. easier to replace the AA’s than put the unit on a charger for a couple of hrs when you may really need it. I have a garmin260 nuvi with lithium batts and on battery power lasts about 3 hrs. My advice is…decide on primary use 1st, then research the best GPS unit.

I love the 76 because it was $100 and you can program the speed and distance on same screen, Also I like buttons up front. I used a 2in by 6in pieace of thin aluminum to make a mounting bracket

Yeah, the 76 shape and layout seems like about the best choice for kayaking, whether in a holder or simply laying on the sprayskirt deck (my choice). It also floats.
