for moving water and the Hagerman Wildlife refuge on Lake Texoma is a great place to see wildlife on flat water. I was born in the Sherman area, but now am far removed. I would love to paddle there myself someday.
Brazos River

Very nice scenery, old cowboy history, Read “Goodbye to a River” by John Graves…it’s about this stretch of the Brazos… It can run low though depending on water release from PK dam.
My favorite lake right now is Lake Murray in Ok.
Crystal clear water with a lot of neat rock formations, primative camping all over…again it is a little out of your way, but if your up to traveling and overnighters, it’s worth a look.
