Wilderness Sytems Tsunami 140 dimensions discrepancy

Hi new member here long time reader. I recently purchased a 2018 model Tsunami 140 to replace my Preception Pacifica 11.0. When looking at the Tsunami 140 I noticed it seemed short, after measuring it the lenghth is 12’9" and 26" wide with a deck height of 13.75" 14" if measured to the top oft he rim. It looks like a Tsunami 125 with a lower deck height. I ran the th HIN# it comes up as Product name: R18TSUNAMI_S140,XP_,BORS TSUNAMI 140 BOREALIS
Platform: TSUN140 I emailed Confluence Outdoors they sent me a link to buy decals. Just wondering if anyone has ran into this before?

Please forgive my curiosity, was this purchased in a store or private sale? Since you purchased a Tsunami 125 but paid for a Tsunami 140, can you get a refund? From the 125 to 140, there is a $280 price difference.

It was a private seller I knew it was 12’9" at time of sale didn’t measure width or deck height until later. The previous owner purchased it from a local shop as a demo boat. The 140 sticker apears to be original. when I ran the HIN# on confluence’s website it indicates a 140.

I don’t think this explains it, but there is significant size discrepancies in rotomolded kayaks. The kayak is larger in the mold than what the finished product. Based on various environmental conditions, the boats shrink beteeen something like 5 and 10% when they are removed from the mold. So 2 boats made at different times can be significantly different in size.

Now I have to measure my new model Tsunami 145.

Can you outline how you made the measurements so that I can duplicate?

For length I measured tip of bow to back of stern. I had some one hold the end of my tape measure on the tip of the bow and had a level on the back of the stern. For width I had it up against a box the held a level on the other side it was actually 26…25" wide. Deck hieght i leveled the kayak side to side measued from floor to top of rim it was little over 14" I thene measured to top of deck it was 13.75".
I got an email from Pelican International “That serial number indicates that this is a 2018 model Tsunami 140 in Borealis color.”
After I gave him the dimensions his response was
“Yes that is confusing. Please send photos of the boat and the etched in serial number.”
I will see what they have to say next.

2018 was about the first year the Tsunami 125 changed length from 12’6" up to 12’9".

Pelican International emailed me this morning it is a Tsunami 125 it was sold at discounted rate because of the mistake. Th are not really sure why the deck height is an inch lower. My guess is something happened the cooling process or it had stuff stacked on it pushing it down and outward a little.
I am 5’6" 155lbs I fit pretty snug in it.
