Only way I’d stand in a Ride is with outriggers…

balancing act
I think standing in a canoe or kayak is as much a function of boat design as the balancing ability of the paddler.
I’ve watched Micky Wood stand in his Sea Wind which is a comparitively narrow boat (28").
Didn’t look like it was stable enough to fly cast but he could stand to spy any Redtails for a bit.
I didn’t think it would that stable when I first saw it, but check out the video clips for the Wave Walk. www.wavewalk.com . That design has some real potential. Might need a little tweaking to become a good fishing machine.
Mine even had a poling form on it
I am 5’7" 150 pounds.
I use it for bone, permits and tarpon fishing: flyfish only.
The other boat you can look are:
Malibu extreme and Xfactor
OK drifter
heritage redfish/Marquesa
Cobra fish and dive.

HI I HAVE A FLAT BOTTOM CANOE WHICH I HAVE NO PROBLEM STANDING TO STRECH BACK AND FISH WHILE STANDING WIFE HATES IT WHEN I DO SHE GETS NERVES EASY. MAINE THING IS YA HEADS UP ALL TIME FOR OTHER BOATS WAKES OR A WAVE DON’T WANT TO GET COT BY SURPRISE. i ALSO HAVE TWO KAYACS WHIH I’D NEVER STAND IT IVE FLIPED OVER JUST GETTING IN ! GOOD LUCK!
Um
i have a Ride, and yes you can stand in/on it. although its not as easy as standing in a canoe, how ever why would you stand in it, It has no side walls to get in the way of casting.
wavewalk - interesting
Thanks I’ll look into it.
the “stand-up” ride
flat bottom canoe? more stable? isn’t the Ride a cat?
poling form?
This could be very helpful. Please describe.
standing in canoe?
you are the second response regarding standing and fishing from a canoe. Any suggestions as to which ones would be better?
The ride - one stable fishing platform
Serge - your info helped me alot. Best reviews I’ve ever read. Thanks - The Ride is the one!
Can a rudder be added later? Your platform designs should be made available to all. Thanks again.
have you looked at the tarpon 140?
rumour has it WS will be coming out with the 160 designed like the 140
Stabilizers
If, after you buy a Ride, you’re not comfortable standing, there is a kayak stabilizer made. Spring Creek makes one.
