After a year trying to reduce the whistle/howl of my Yakima Bowdowns I found the cause. Tried windjammers, full fairings, duct tape, pool noodles etc to no avail.
THE BUILT IN BOTTLE OPENER IS A WHISTLE!!
I took a piece of tape and covered the opener slot and the two holes directly under it on both Bowdowns. All noise gone! It seems so obvious now that these holes in the wind produce noise like blowing over the top of a beer bottle. Enjoy the silence.
