Could use some suggestions

Hello all, I am new here. From CT and love to Kayak. Bought my first one just last summer , a cheap sundolphin that at least got me out on the water but now it’s time to upgrade { i’m too heavy for my current one, no storage, uncomfortable, etc , etc}. I have been looking for a couple months now and I am undecided between a Jackson Cuda and a WS Tarpon 130x. I like the fact that standing in the cuda if needed may be possible, but not so much in the tarpon. Would love to hear from users here if any, and also suggestions on other models as well. Will be using in lakes, rivers, creeks, and once a year on the ocean{ well inshore in protected areas}. Will be fishing a lot but not all the time so not even sold on the sit on top type. Prefer a sit in kayak because i will be going out while the water is still cold and from what I hear, SOT type i am bound to get wet. So ideally i am looking for something that i can fish from {mount a rod holder& fish finder} one that has ample storage and also something i can squeeze a tent and sleeping bag in for an overnighter.

Fish finder…never seen one on a sit in. But big sot fishing kayaks sure. You can camp on a sot. Think dry bags big dry bags and a sot around 14ft. My fishing friends wear bibs with booties in winter (Fla &ga). Even these guys survived. Overloaded and “un skilled” they made it.

Look at this one…https://forums.paddling.com/discussion/2937127/kayak-for-river-expeditions#latest

CT in my part of the country is the Circumnavigation Trail around Florida. I’m sure you’re talking about a new England state. So I really don’t have any information of local quality. Personally though I’d use one of my seakayaks for expedition kayaking (camping). It can haul enough stuff and make good speed. For fishing I’d use my 14 ft rec boat with a floatation bladder forward. I’ve mounted some flush rod holders aft of the cockpit. Your situation may be different. What do other CT kayakers use?

Here’s what i did …bought a Pamlico 135 T (tandem) sit-in …w/ rudder . Pulled the extra seat out and made it a single seater . It’s my “freighter” boat now . I think it has a 350 # limit on it . U can buy a “dashboard” that will fit the Pamlico with very little to no , work. you’ll end up with space up front and behind the seat and under the aft deck.

Wow! Overloaded is an understatement
