Looking back at 2024 and looking forward in 2025

Since being banished to posting only on my phone I’ve posted a lot less than I used to do, some pictures to show highlights of 2024. This spring I’m headed back to Nevada to boat the east Carson river and the entire length of the Truckee. Other paddling plans still up in the air. Highlights of 2024 in reverse order with captions underneath:

Maybe not everyone is aware of this, but for most of last year (beginning before the Spring Ozark "vous in. May) and all of this year (so far) many old-time users have been having problems using the site. Pblanc is out completely. (worth noting - I can still. talk to him by landline but not through the board as we used to. I much prefer communication systems that work. How "bout you?) I’m recognized by the board through my GF’s computer, but not on my own (where all my photos are stored.) I’d have had photos from The Current R, Florida, The Northfork R, and the BWCA (And some dog photos to boot) if only I could get the board to accept the same password on my home computer as it does on my GF’s. And I’d have contributed to threads as I used to if I could…
I don’t know if “banished” is exactly the word for the condition that Tony, Pete, myself and many others seem to be in, but our access is certainly curtailed (most likely by some sort of glitchy automated process) as compared to how it worked for a couple decades under Brent & Brian’s oversight.

Sorry that this is still going on. I know I had problems posting for a period of months. Then it “magically” (I did nothing myself to clear it up) resolved itself. Hope this happens for the other “ole timers” that are still “out in the wilderness”. For me, the enjoyment of these forums has not been the same without some of the familiar “faces” (or PCom handles).

That’s terrible and a disservice to those who so generously shared their wisdom on this site.

I came close to quiring this site last summer because of the glitches, but there are so many people here that I enjoy. I am still having to try several times to enter a thread to read or post. Doesn’t seem like the current owner’s care about the site.

Hi Tony, I enjoyed our paddle last year. I didn’t get to do as much paddling this year as family health issues and other plans got in the way. However, I did a fair amount of sailing and racing. Although I was also absent more than I wanted to be from that too.

I exchanged personal emails and phone numbers with the members who expressed a desire to stay in contact with me (yes, a few aren’t intimidated by my blather). I’m no fan of censorship. That has a way of taking care of itself in that members are free to overlook the posts. Oddly enough, some members dont look at the name of the person posting, and they camt help engaging in insults. Dang! Don’t read it and don’t respond.

I don’t understand, as the only semi-administrator available to users of this sight, can’t this be brought up? This has been going on for more then a year now and may have had an adverse affect on the forum. It would be in their best interests to resolve it it would seem.

Twenty Five is going to be a good year, @Andy_Szymczak is in the trial for ALS, @MohaveFlyer is back in the country and @canoeswithduckheads ’s poems will be more understandable.

Last May, I traveled to Utah for a 10 day trip. Down the Green river… when I came home. o paddled quite a bit. Until I was struck by ALS. Now I 'm hoping I can get back in my boats again.

Here is hoping you can do it.

Any idea what causes this? From all indications, you are a fit, active person, it does not seem you would be susceptible to something like this.

This was a genetic cause, one of my genes went kapoie.

Kapoie, there is a medical term for you.
