Orange flag for safety -how to attach it to kayak?

Rotomolded kayaks are nearly indestructible, but the one way you can damage or destroy them is something I see all the time, especially with loaded fishing kayaks. Drag them across a paved parking lot holding the them by the front toggle. Eventually you will wear a hole in the stern. Repair can be difficult, often requiring plastic welding which many people are not experienced enough to do successfully.

You’re right about that, you don’t let the weight concentrate on the point of the stern and drag it across concrete. I did that a few times with my first fishing kayak, and I could see that the plastic was wearing quickly so I stopped doing it. But across gravel, if you hold the front end not too high so the weight of the kayak is distributed, it won’t be a problem.

Put your safety equipment in a small dry bag and attach it to the side of your kayak with velcro or tie it in. Paddle float, bilge pump, air horn, etc.
