I posted about rowing in Venice a few weeks back. This is a paddling site, not rowing, so here is my paddling experience.
Signed up for a 2.5 hour evening guided tour with Venice Kayaks. By design or luck, our group of 4 was the entire tour. All of us are experienced paddlers.
We chose the evening tour as it allowed us to go to more places, such as to cross the Grand Canal (can’t do that during day due to boat traffic).
The guide normally has a few routes he chooses from based on conditions, participants, etc., and he kept adding to our tour as we paddled strongly. In the end, he said we did everything that he would cover in all the different routes.
Good fun. Worth doing once, but if I was to go back to paddle again, I would aim to do the Vogalonga
Note - I may not make an effort to do this again, but I would do the gondola rowing again.
Where we launched from (and landed at)
Our friends in their double
Going under a bridge
Out in the lagoon
In the dark in a canal
Our track (minus a little at the start before we remembered to turn tracing on). Not all positions exact as the GPS got lost in the canyons created by the buildings. In
