Thanks for the offer Cooldoctor
I’m really glad you’re feeling so good about your newest boat and I’m glad you were able to go out today (the Lagoons refroze by me). I’ll probably have to put a sail or motor on the Calabria to keep up with the Barracuda but more than likely, I will have ordered my own longer yak before we paddle again in the spring. Congrats.
I’m happy for you too Bradford; confidence seems to go a long way towards enhancing the paddling experience.
I’ll take you up on that offer some time
cooldoctor1. Thanks for the offer.
Nice…
…and congratulations.
And as far as the rec boats go, it’s like–or so
I’m told–riding a motorcycle slowly: difficult.
But I have a dear friend who also posts here, Donna. I’ve paddled with her a lot and it’s
hard someitmes not to run off on her. (But you’re worth it, Donna!)
The Barracuda is hard to make go slow, and it can
get pretty twitchy at low speeds.
And somebody asked if it’s fast.
That boat hauls ass.
I’m rehabbing my third shoulder surgery and I
can’t wait to get out.
I named the boat Winnaf because it reminds me so
much of my sister’s Arabian horse: quirky without
being mean, until he got used to you, then he’d
lay those ears back and run his heart out for you
if you let him.
That horse loved to run and so does that boat.
Pshaw, I’ve had that boat so fast the water on
the rigging was turning to steam.
(PS. If you ever do paddle with Donna, be
careful; she’s had me laughing so hard once or
twice that I almost fell over.)
Wow, an Arabian horse!
I must say, that is quite a description of a fast kayak, rroberts. Poor Donna is likely paddling like a banshee to keep up while your just in a comfortable rhythm. I will say that is makes a fair wake and I can even hear it break against the shoreline when I am paddling close top the shore… something I’ve never experienced with my other boats.
OK, if that’s an Arabian…
Then tell me if Rec Boats are:
A. Shetland ponies! Short, fat, and good for nothing but brief entertainment at some brats B-day party.
or
B. The 25¢ mechanical horsey ride in front of the store that wobbles back and forth while going nowhere - but at least it’s cheap!
Next poster insert boat/horse of choice. Too many possibilities!
