Mirrors, toes… whats next never mind… I hate bow shots. I find myself doing them a lot… I hate bow shots.
Now to your credit, the best part of the pic is hardly your dainty feet. Its the contrast of the yellow against essentially a colorless background
How to get away from the monotony of bow shots? Discuss!

No toes and no bows. I guess I could call it sort of an action shot since there’s flying water droplets. Taken this afternoon during a nice six mile paddle on a cloudy cold day.
My hands always get cold so I was experimenting by wearing a pair of Smartwool glove liners under my Glacier Gloves. With my GP my hands are in the water with each stroke but today, my hands stayed warm in spite of the Glacier Gloves being wet. On the other hand, I was testing a sock called “Heat Holders.” Going back to Smartwool socks as my feet were really cold by the time I got back to my car.
I swear by the cheapo “silver liner” aluminized stretch socks and gloves and they are now available again after having vanished for a while. I worked for many years as an industrial construction electrician, often in appalling weather. These liners really do work keeping your feet and hands extra warm under another protective layer. And your dexterity with the gloves on is excellent because the outside has a sort of sandpapery sharkskin texture that gives good grip and they’re very thin and flexible. You can operate zippers and use the controls on a camera without removing them. I was able to use hand tools and run conduit and even pull and terminate wire with these gloves on though I would go through a pair or two a week as the hours of rough work wore the fabric thin. But I would buy them back then in bulk for about $10 for 6 pairs. More than worth it. My boyfriend back then worked in a cold truck repair garage and was always bitching about cold feet until I bought him a couple of pairs, which he raved about. Amazon sells the sets in both men’s and women’s sizes. They are certainly still reasonably priced.
Checked the Amazon listing but can’t find any info on the material used. Nylon? Cotton? Wool? What happens when they get wet?
While doing some research on the material, did come across an interesting old article (1989) written by B. Farnworth of the Defence Research Establishment of Ottawa. http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a215936.pdf
I think they are either polyester or a poly/nylon blend. Being wet doesn’t affect them much – they dry pretty fast since the synthetic fiber is not absorbent and moisture trapped in the voids in the weave can evaporate from body heat, just like synthetic “moisture transport” long johns. I did notice from some of the reviews that the currently available ones are reportedly flimsier than the ones from 20 or 30 years ago that I used to use. There may be better quality ones available somewhere.
Should ill wind heel the yak,
there’s beefy heels skinny dippin’,
and fallen arches then prove,
rudder disaster for trippin’,
But bow down to the toes,
when yaks with piggies do roam,
and bless 'em bigger three hills,
lee. lee, lee all the way home.

Wonderful verse as always, my friend(BTW: I got “skinny dippin’” with yak photos too–But these I save only for non-public distribution;-
Well thank you.
And thank god for that last part you mention, or don’t cause to mention per pixelated distribution. Else:
Dinglin’, danglin’,
ill winds come anglin’,
and cold splashes lead to much shrinkage,
thenst jinglin’, janglin’,
lexicon I go wranglin’,
too long of the short in its linkage.
LOL I have never abused my boats like that!
My God!!! That is a spirited boat! (Or Ringo’s Yellow Submarine tames a Big Blue Meanie - “Hand! Be Gentle Hand!”)
Head, and shoulders, knees and toes.
There he goes!
Head, and shoulders, knees and toes,
as some threads go.
If the karma suit ya as the good Lord institutes ya,
Head and shoulders, knees and toes.
(What else might show?!!)
The S.S.Blue Fig Leaf shall never sail straight again.
(somehow I feel I’ve been channelling the ghost of Robin Williams here.)

Yes shoes are good in case you have to run when things get turbulent especially if caught abusing a boat! ;o)
