Wrong decisions!

The Coast Guard pulled out yesterday. The rest of his party apparently left him to swim to shore without a PFD, according to the CG story. I find it hard to believe people could be that negligent but then people surprise me every day.

It wouldn’t help you avoid an kayak accident.

I always rely on newspaper articles to help me better my paddling safety procedures. Are you really believing this? I suggest you spend less time with your nose in the news and more going to classes or guiding or symposia; attain some ACA certification.
I think you have better to offer than hitting us over and over with the same tired book because we all know what is in the book.

Evidently many don’t no the book by the deaths we see and the questions people ask here.

Was this your response when the samething was posted in another thread?

People are always learning from previous accidents in all situations of life. Many people have real short memories.

You’re suggesting I should not watch the news or read it? My class history you have zero clue about or paddling frequency.

Don’t rely on newspaper articles? If something you read interests you dig deeper. Now if I saw a newspaper article that outlined that no one knew survival skills and offered a how to on how to do a simple rescue that would be different. I am not telling you what to rely but what is useful to post here.
You know from now on I will just ignore your posts

The deaths we see… have you analyzed each death you read about and read the CV of the paddlers involved… If you have , I apologize. But for now I call it as I see it.

This is approaching B and B level.

I learned more from an ACA Instructor Development Workshop than from reading 20yrs of news articles.
Real life/real time problem solving.

All info doesn’t hurt no matter if it’s in books, videos, or on the water.

yup…

If one person on this forum thinks twice about doing something stupid like leaving their group, not wearing a PFD, leaving their hull, or trying to swim to shore it’s worth it for me to post. Shore always looks closer than it is then add in condition that got you out your in trouble.

You know I didn’t see any reporting on actual decisions just supposition of judgement calls. I’m not even sure the kayaks pictured are involved.

He left boat, had no PFD on, group left him, he decided to swim for shore alone. Those are decisions. That was his kayak in the picture. If he had a PFD chances are he would have been found by now dead or alive.
