I get a kick out of the people who have no clue as to what a canoe should be valued. I’ve seen people selling “antique” Grumman canoes for $900 and I’ve seen Grummans in perfectly good condition for as little as $50. Then there the ones selling cheap Pelicans, Colemans and Sun Dolphins for $400 and $500, probably what they cost originally. And I see basically unidentifiable (no marking) Royalex canoes that are so faded they obviously spent many years in the sun sold as “canoe, great condition, $500” I saw one on Facebook that was in awful shape and he was asking $200. I couldn’t resist, got a little mean and said to him “$200? If you pay me $50 I’ll cart that away for you”
Pick your poison…from this trio of rare & unusual beauties…
Sit any of them in a highly visible area in your front yard; be the envy of your neighbors.
This canoe is a very rare, 17 foot “GORMANN” canoe, with a great paint job.
This boat is advertised as an old rental canoe that “works like it should”. Obviously the damage must be merely “cosmetic”.
Dogs love this canoe; buy it and use it the same way the dogs do. If you have cats, it would make a great litter box.

2nd one down has me wondering if they were trying to copy a marathon C1 … but nah … one to many strainers I suspect.
There is this Old Town Pack listed as having a little warping and a ding. Only $300. I hope there’s a good story behind how that kind of damage occurred. Maybe it flew off the top of the car and got run over on the freeway.
Deleted due to accidental double posting.

Here’s a good eBay listing:
Pretty good price for anyone wanting a Sauna paddle. Conjures up a strange image…
i prefer fresh-cut birch branches. (sauna joke)
There is often some dyslexia (or maybe Spellchexia) amongst boat sellers. I have seen Perception kayaks posted as “Perfection”, “Protection”, “Procession” and my favorite, “Perdition”.
I saw one this morning that had no picture and the only thing it said was “Blue canoe for sale”.
it had no details either

It’s almost like they don’t want it to sell.
Or maybe it’s secret code for some sort of illicit transaction…
Though sometimes you see some kind of cool boats, like this homemade Snowshoe Arrow (14’ skin on frame pack canoe) that turned up this week locally.

And we do have a local river cleanup organization that would be a practical destination for some of those ratty canoes people are hawking:

This one is a classic. Guess it’s a good day for humorous Craigslist ads.

I see they changed the title of the one in NH. So it’s no longer funny. But good on them.
Saw this one today for an Old Town Disco 169. I found it funny in the truth in advertising sort of way.
So, my friend had to move and left me with this canoe. I don't canoe, its kinda big and heavy. I don't want to store it, its in great shape aside from some pine needles. It has 2 seats!
Here’s a good one on PDX currently.
“Has been stored indoors and is in good shape. No cracks or oil canning. Royalex boats are exceptionally durable.”
Umm… better take a closer look at the pics…
In a Craigslist ad in Kalispell, MT … includes a kid’s kayak:
