Here’s one posted in Maine a day ago. No photo, this is the whole ad. So what’s more likely, a mint condition Kevlar Touring kayak with a carbon paddle, or a leaky inflatable with those blue and yellow plastic oars?
Found this one today.
Description
Want paddle boat. Free.
That is the entire add. Worst thing is they actually live about 5 minutes away from me.
That made me laugh out loud.
Note that the feather angle is adjustable.
Not only adjustable feather but adjustable length, too. Damn! High tech!
Oh God! That guy is hilarious! Too funny. Maybe he will write a book! If he does I’ll buy it!
I just came across this one. Excellent condition for only $999, and it weighs only 22 lbs!

Maybe what he is saying is that the watertight bulkhead weighs only 22 pounds?
22 liters maybe. These were selling for $500 10 years ago. Wish him luck.
Not a CL post, but always humorous when I read them.
What? The reviewers on amazon. Yes, the people who offer their review of the gadget after admitting they’ve not used it yet. Or this widget being the first and only one they’ve ever had but then gives you feedback on the pros/cons.
Best Craigslist kayak picture ever!
I think that droop in the stern is an optical illusion due to the perspective and because the Loon 126 does have a stern that slopes downward. But it shows another of the things sellers don’t do. Craig’s List even gives the advice to upload your best photo first because that’s what people will see while browsing. But you see plenty of ads where the first photo is of something like this goofy looking stern with a rusty barrel and other fine junk to admire as well.
I have a buyer for my Alaw Bach who is supposed to come up next week. I decided to try to find a used LV sea kayak before ordering new, so I’ve been scouring CL and other sources. I’ve seen some outrageous ads, and just came across this funny one today - buy the paddle get the boat with ugly DYI repairs for free:
Yes, it’s an optical illusion. The other pictures show it looking normal. But you’d think the seller would be able to see it, too, and might even consider, oh, I don’t know, say, taking another picture?
Failed as a kayak and a planter.
Sorta funny… sorta not funny.
“Strapping to secure packs or lifejackets.”

Several kayaks listed in my area today. I think my favorite is: “Old skinny kayak - $75”
Unfortunately it’s not at all what I am looking for.
