Reminds me of Lake Tahoe: similar surface area, windy, deep and cold clear water, spectacular horizon of snowcapped peaks with similar geology of Jurassic metamorphics. (though LT is twice as deep and 5 times higher elevation.)
A lot like Tahoe, agree
The conditions can change so fast!
Spooky
I was going to say chilly.
When I took that photo there was a heavy overcast on a chilly drizzly late afternoon after a day of flyfishing.
It was sunnier this day.
And yesterday crossing the river,
now that looks like my kind of stream!
Brrrr
Funny story
My hands got so cold that I ran into a bathroom to run them under warm water and the attendant (Bangladeshi ? man ) had to dig my euro out of my pocket because I couldn’t. So then I went into the bathroom but was afraid to pull my wetsuit down because I couldn’t feel my hands and I sure didn’t want to have to call him in. so I just gave up and left.
Wetsuits are washable. Got to do what you must.
I was once told that there are two kinds of surfers: those who pee in their wetsuits, and those who deny it.
I always enjoy answering the “where do you pee” questions about the ultra distance events to mortified faces
Or how about the mountaineers above tree line and packing it out
