Looks fun!

Beautiful country to visit (Saguenay region), but a horrible drive to get there (from mid state NY) and heaven help you if you are not a fluent Francophone. And in August it seems to rain daily from late afternoon until dawn, with showers off and on between, constant wind and suffocating humidity. Great food, though. Even convenience stores have pate and imprted cheeses.

David’s plan for his temple,
first chronicles 28,
“The covenant of this ark’s snowjob in the park,
bow on your knees with pad we’ll crenulate.”
Stern to the rear likely share the same fate.

Here is a small lake very near me (technically an impoundment created for flood control)

  • which is why I decided to try a bit of kayaking. Unfortunately, a disagreement ensued between the PA Fish and Boat commission and the local county commissioners. A 40-year lease was terminated due to the discovery of battery casings in the park (LONG story…google Kaercher Creek Park) and after most of the park closed in '14, the place has gone downhill fast. Parts of the lake currently resemble the Sargasso Sea in terms of the amount of aquatic growth and other crap that resides on the surface. Here is what it looked like back in '12 when I took my Sea Eagle 330 out.

The lake does NOT look like this anymore. Not just the decline in the quality of the water. Shoreline and interior areas of the park all overgrown, the docks were pulled out of the water and currently being taken over by weeds and poison ivy, picnic tables were removed, no public restrooms, etc. It’s a sad situation. Two local grassroots / volunteer-based organizations have been doing all they can to help maintain some of it, but a decision was just made to not renew any sort of lease. Neither the county nor local parks department seems to want anything to do with the place anymore. No idea what will happen to it.

Saguenay!!! Yes…fantastic. Got there awhile back as part of a Canada / New England cruise with Celebrity. It was substituted for another port that we couldn’t get to due to weather conditions. Suited me fine since I’ve always wanted to go there.

So here is part of what Kaercher lake looks like now…the anglers claim they like this cause “that’s where the fish are”. Like I care. Not sure I want to take my SE 330 out in this. Anyone here from the Berks County PA area might be familiar with the rather sad story associated with this lake. Last time I was out kayaking here about 6 years ago or so my paddle came up with all sorts of growth. Felt more like going through a mangrove. Conditions are much worse now.

First time posting pictures, fingers crossed I get this right.

Really enjoying going through everyone’s images here, paddling is grand.

Mr. 26NX82W patiently lets me use him as a subject when paddling from time to time. One of our favorite things to do is to paddle out via the mangrove tunnels into Charlotte Harbor (SWFL) to watch the sun set.

Great photos! I’ve been looking for a 2022 wall calendar with similar photos, but no luck so far. Anyone with any suggestions? Many thanks! Cheers, Stephen
