The ultimate dream boat.

One that carries itself
Well, you did say “dream” boat.

It does if you can handle 24" beam
They’re called transitional/touring kayaks and populate the vast wasteland between rec boats and sea kayaks. Plenty of models. many with rudders and adaptable for sailing. Comfort comes with not settling for stock outfitting.

Warning: Eventually they’ll just make you want longer and narrower and faster and easier to roll…

Can’t pick just one
The Idea is crazy and I don’t think I could do it, but if you held a gun to my head I’d want an all around 16 foot canoe in royalex. Either an old town penobscot or maybe a royalex copy of a prospector.

Tried that
I put a C1 saddle in my old CD Solstice HV.

I think it had a 24" beam.

Tender! Man she was tender. Had to really stay focused to stay up.

What drove me away though, was the fairly round cross section. No room for my knees. Ouch!

I always wanted to try that with a hard chined design. Anybody got a short, fat Caribou. ;-0

Favorite boat
My 1st boat was a plastic WS Tempest 170 and I didn’t think it could be beat. I just purchased a IMPEX Force Cat 5 in Carbon/Kelvar and am in heaven. I now have two favorite boats…

The boat is holding me our of the water
is always my favorite boat.

dream boat
many years ago i saw a study plan by steve redmond for a sailing kayak named red herring. it had a cat ketch rig and just enough volume to get below to sleep. i think it was about 16’x28", strip built. the study plan drawings had the boat decorated with native northwest designs. i later saw a photo of one under construction in redmond’s shop. i don’t know if one was ever completed but its always been a dream boat for me since i saw the drawings.

Paddle or not
If it has to be a boat you can paddle it would be the drakkar or dragonship, the longship of the Vikings.

If any boat, give me an old Chris Craft like the one they splintered in the movie, On Golden Pond.

Mine!!!
Sure, there are better boats I’m sure, but she’s mine! Chatham 18, yellow w/blue trim and oyster hull.

not really

"Warning: Eventually they'll just make you want longer and narrower and faster and easier to roll..."

LOL! As a proud owner of the Q400x, what I really want is a narrower and faster SOLO CANOE and the skills to use it on coastal waters so I can replace my kayak altogether.

I’m still here when your Summersong gets
too tippy for you

Prijon Eski
The Prijon Eski is my favorite boat. I own two of them.

MDM

U.S.S. Constitution
A very beatiful ship.

I’m still looking for my favorite canoe or kayak.

Aquaterra Chinook
because it was my first…any more my favorite kayak is the kayak i happen to be in, the other day it was the LookshaII, this weekend the Wisper, on Monday the Q…Like Don Juan I love them all

My fav would have to be…
…the QCC 700. I still miss that boat. But, that being said, my new favorite “all round” boat is my Wilderness Systems Freedom SOT. Yeah, I know…but I take that silly thing everywhere. Anyone have one that they want to trade for a WS Tarpon 160 in excellent condition??

Cheers,

Joe

So Pamlico . . .
Are you going to publish your roster for us? Maybe crunch some numbers–what percentage are rec boats, ww boats, sea kayaks? Plastic? Wood? Glass? Kevlar?
