Winter activity

Dream about canoeing…you bet.
The most vivid canoe dream I have had. I paddle 120+days/year…I refer to this stuff as waking up in the canoe.

pool sessions and eat
I’m lucky here in CT we have several organizations that have pool sessions so I can get wet, stay warm and socialize with paddlers. Plus TV, eat and sleep on the couch.

no need to stop kayaking!
Just watch these guys!

winter
Winter’s for building kayaks and teaching classes. Summer’s for paddling.

Fixin’ ta Ride my Road Bike Now
Trying to beat the approaching snow and rain. Hoping to find that warm power plant water to roll around in soon.

I live in the subtropics, so I paddle.

g2d’s winter activity is
being a pedantic self-appointed “proper forum police”. Oh, wait, he does that all year long.

What happened to spring and autumn?
Some great paddling then, in many places.

Geocaching, skiing and snowshoeing
Winter is my favorite time of year to be outdoors. Once the temps dip and my boats are put away for the winter, I spent more time geocaching and do some downhill skiing, showshoeing (if there is enough snow) and some ice fishing if the lakes freeze over (which they do in most years).

Only water that’s frozen here are the
ice cubes in our drinks. Ahhhhh…warm weather and cold drinks. We paddle 4-5 days out of the week usually- all year round.

Yep, I paddle…

spring and autumn
Around here we paddle well into the autumn season, and it’s not warm enough in the spring mostly to get out. Lakes are usually frozen till April, then very cold till May. Still building in the spring.

Winter paddling
Paddling mixes well with duck hunting for us. The lakes and ponds may freeze, but that just makes the ducks and canoes move to the big river. It almost never freezes over. A nice leisurely paddle with a little jump-shooting is a nice way to spend a rainy day, and we usually have the whole river pretty much to ourselves.

We do a little snowshoeing and x-c skiing too, depending on the weather (which can be wildly different from year to year).

eat?
Hi Jay,

LOL…if I did that I’d never get in the boats in the spring .

drink
Drink heavily, sit in my room with the shades drawn and cry, mutilate myself, and sometimes when winter just seems like it is too much, I will come on Pnet, and post discussions into advice forums.
